February Presidents Message

Published on 2/3/2025
Dear AZNIGP Members,

Welcome to February 2025. I hope January was everything you wanted it to be.

At our January Chapter Training Meeting, Vice President Michael Greene presented the 2025 Application Process for both Manager/Procurement Specialist of the Year and Scholarships including those coveted scholarships for NIGP Forum attendance. 1GPA has once again sponsored two Forum Scholarships and the Chapter is sponsoring additional opportunities to attend Forum and for other professional development opportunities.  We will be providing a link to the recording of Michael’s presentation via email very soon.

The Manager/Procurement Specialist of the Year applications are due February 5th. Please consider sponsoring and nominating that special someone in your agency.  Whether you have a sponsor or not, please consider applying. The award program is designed to be self-nomination at the Chapter and the National level regardless of whether you have a sponsor. No one knows more about the great things you are doing better than you!  Scholarships for Forum are due February 28th. Regular scholarships can be submitted throughout the year!

The Manager/Procurement Specialist of the Year applications and ALL scholarship applications can be found in the Document Library in the folder called, “Scholarship Info”.

SAVE THE DATE: Career Seminar I on March 18, 2025
Beyond the great education program we are currently finalizing, and the celebration of National Procurement Month for this In-Person Seminar, we will be announcing Manager/Procurement Specialist of the Year Awards and Selecting Forum Scholarship recipients. YOU do not want to miss out.  We will notify you of the educational program at the Seminar when we post the event on our website in the very near future.

For those new to procurement, please visit the National NIGP website at www.nigp.org and take advantage of the Webinars available to National members. You have to be a National Member to view the Webinars.  However, the Chapter also hopes to host some of those Webinars for our Chapter Members to take advantage.

For those who would like some Procurement 101 education, please consider attending the free NIGP CPPB/CPPO training sessions, hosted by Maria Cerda. Whether or not you are ready to prepare for certification, these free study sessions provide valuable information on any aspect of your professional development goals and put you in a position to be ready when the time to take the test comes. The sessions begin April 1st.

I again encourage each one of you to take advantage of the various scholarships we have available, set ambitious professional goals for yourself and to actively seek out opportunities for learning and development. Whether through career seminars, business meetings, workshops, or conferences, let us embrace every chance to enhance our skills, broaden our knowledge, and strengthen our connections.

Thank you for all you do for the residents of Arizona every day. Public Procurement is just another day in Paradise!

Sincerely,

Bill Munch, NIGP-CPP, CPPO, CPPB
AZNIGP 2025 President
